After a large lunch with Jean, Arthur & Bessie in Marske, Cat had had the bright idea of walking back along the Cleveland Way from Saltburn to Port Mulgrave, the nearest point of access for Hinderwell.  About 4 hours, about 9 miles, we thought.  No idea if the distance was right, but 4 hours was pretty much spot on!  Having dropped Bessie, we found the access point to the Cleveland Way, and it was straight up the first big hill out of Saltburn!  Over the next few hours there were several more big hills, dropping down in some places to walk along the flat cliff tops, and then through first Skinningrove, right down on the sea, then up and over through the heather and past the cows to Boulby, and back down and across the cliff-top and fields to Cowbar and then down into Staithes.  One quick stop at the shop later, and it was back out the other side of Staithes, up the hill and over the top to Port Mulgrave, a small village built on top of the cliff overlooking yet another cliffy bay with waves crashing into the bottom of the cliff!  Finally, Cat dragged herself home, achy and with sore feet, but feeling satisfied with the long walk she had managed!
